ANNA HEIDENHAIN AT MANZARA GALLERY LOUNGE
Just one look on Anna Heidenhain’s large format pieces is like a dizzy stumbling between reality and painted virtuality. Straight lines and constructed colour areas are opening up an immersive environment that is questioning our perception of reality and accessibility. The heavy framed pieces are literally occupying the exhibition space and give reference to the artist background: Educated at the sculpture department of Art School Düsseldorf she doesn’t describe herself as a painter.
Rather Anna Heidenhain’s projects are telling the story of “medium follows function” and the immense interest in various working materials. Since already seven years she lives and works in Istanbul and Berlin. The periodic change of place and the frequent boundary crossing is apparently influencing her artistic process and subject and makes it a manifestation of transition.
